

So while you may be able to bend the prongs back in order to make good mechanical contact (essential for good electrical contact), the prongs will bend out of proper position again soon and you will have to repeat the process, eventually needing to replace the jack. But understand metal loses it temper when bent too many times. You may need to get inside the computer and bend the contact prongs in a little tighter. Pull it out and insert it back in a couple times as that will clean the contacts, if dirty.īut note this problem also can happen if the contacts in the mic connector are loose and/or have lost their tension.

And for sure, make sure your mic is securely connected. At this point, you have not isolated the problem to the mic, the computer, or just settings. You first need to try a different mic and see if it happens with it too.
